Shayna Markwongnark, Ed.D, received her Bachelor of Science in business administration with an emphasis in management from Mount Saint Mary’s University, where she also minored in psychology and pre-law. She launched her education career with a Master of Arts and Teaching from the University of Southern California, later adding a Doctorate in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Teacher Education in Multicultural Societies (TEMS) and Leadership Instructional Change (LCI). She also holds a California multiple subject teaching credential, Bilingual, Cross-Cultural, Language, and Academic Development (BCLAD) credential in bilingual in Spanish, and an administrative credential and entrepreneurship certification.
Prior to accepting the Aveson Center for Independent Study (ACIS) directorship, Dr. Markwongnark was a highly effective K-12 teacher in classrooms across Southern California for almost a decade, the latter of that time being spent as an independent studies teacher at a project-based learning school. She continues as a professor in the Rossier School of Education at the University of Southern California in the clinical education department within the Master of Arts Education program.
