Aaron comes to Aveson with over 20 years of experience in education, first serving as a teacher and then moving into school leadership. He has led diverse Philadelphia public schools to excellence, notably by establishing an inquiry-based teacher mentorship program, co-designing a weeklong interdisciplinary community partnership for students, securing a multi-million University of Pennsylvania partnership for student-centered education, and implementing a full restorative practices model for resolving conflicts among students, staff, and families. He holds a Master’s in Education and Special Education and a Master’s in English.
Aaron chose to lead Aveson Global Leadership Academy because it embodies a vision of education as a continuous process of exploration and growth, driven by innovative practices like defining teachers as advisors, establishing family action teams, organizing deep inquiry trips, developing an emerging externship program, and prioritizing personalized, mastery-based learning over traditional grading. He is passionate about the idea that school should empower students to make change and successfully engage with the world around them and he embraces Aveson’s commitment to push student thinking through interactive real-world experiences.
