Distance Learning
Aveson is committed to supporting all of our students and families through the COVID-19 pandemic. This page will be updated to reflect our current status in regards to reopening, and resources to support our families.
Please see our Distance Learning Hub for resources to support your student during distance learning.
During the pandemic, our number one priority is to protect our students' and staff's health and safety while providing the best continuous instruction possible. Together, our executive leadership and instructional leadership teams developed thoughtful strategies that keep our community safe while also providing instruction for students online.
Like many schools in Los Angeles County, we have been planning for a future return to in-person learning. Our current online cohort model is designed to provide a smooth transition from online to on-campus instruction.
At this time, we will continue online distance learning through the first semester and will not return to campus prior to January. An exact return date will depend on virus transmission rates in LA County and meeting safety and reopening requirements set forth by the county public health department. We will return to campus in phases and will determine the phases with staff and community input after the health metrics allow reopening.
Community Health and Safety
To reopen, the Pasadena Public Health Department also requires schools to promote flu immunization for all students and staff before or at the beginning of the flu season. The vaccine is not required, but we must encourage it during the pandemic to:
Protect the school community from influenza, and co-infection with influenza and COVID-19 viruses
Reduce demands on health care facilities
Decrease illnesses that cannot be readily distinguished from COVID-19 and would trigger extensive measures to respond to public health threats from school and public health authorities.
Unless a documented medical exemption contraindicates the vaccine, we encourage your family to get vaccinated before or at the beginning of the flu season (typically starts November 1).
