Welcome to a unique learning environment where each student's individuality is celebrated! Aveson is a tuition-free charter school, with a small private-school feel. We offer a state-of-the-art education via personalized learning plans with an emphasis on social leadership skills and responsibility. Multiple grades are educated in multi-age classrooms, encouraging cooperation and synergy between students. This cooperation peaks one Wednesday every month on Community Day, when all our grades work together all day in student led educational activities. It's beautiful to see all of our amazing students working and learning together!

Why is Aveson so special? Everything we do as a learning community is based on our guiding principles (below). Our educational philosophy is that "Excellent Learning for Everyone Requires Excellent Teaching." To ensure all students not only succeed but excel, Aveson teachers are simply the best. They are constantly improving their understanding of both the art and science of education. The Aveson founders and staff are continually examining and reexamining every aspect of our programs to ensure that they are maximizing use of resources and offering the best possible educational experience to our students.

Aveson was founded just 2.5 short years ago and in that time we have grown into a place where happy students learn and thrive in an independent learning environment. Students have personalized learning plans and live according to our guiding principles:

The Aveson Difference

Aveson students rotate between subject areas (called blocks) and follow Personalized Learning Plans they have created with their teachers. All subjects integrate real life skills like nutrition (culinary arts) and social responsibility. Our campus provides a serene environment that is optimal for learning. Throughout the year students celebrate their learning through our "Celebration of Learning" evenings in which they present their work to their families. At ASL, the K-2 students also are encouraged to prepare three yearly Family Projects. The whole family gets involved and works together on unique masterpieces. This years themes have been Family History and 100 Day.

Aveson's focus is on individual learners, not on meeting the numbers BUT we are proud to announce that we do meet the numbers... Recently Aveson's AGLA students had the highest API scores in the Pasadena Unified School District. ASL students had the second highest scores!
